Women Only – RYA Competent Crew Course

Our Women Only – RYA Competent Crew Course provides a relaxed and supportive introduction to sailing, ideal for those with little or no previous experience who want to build confidence on the water.

You will join an all-female crew and learn under the guidance of an experienced RYA instructor. The course focuses on developing practical skills through hands-on participation, including helming, sail handling, ropework, and general seamanship. Instruction is clear and progressive, allowing you to gain confidence at your own pace while becoming an active member of the crew.

Based in the Solent, one of the UK’s most varied sailing areas, the course offers the opportunity to experience different conditions, short passages, and a range of ports and harbours. Living onboard is an important part of the experience, helping you to develop a realistic understanding of life as part of a small crew.

By the end of the course, you will be able to steer, assist with sails, handle lines, and contribute confidently onboard. Successful students will be awarded the RYA Competent Crew certificate.
