Get prepped
Please ensure that your kit is packed in a soft holdall, sailing bag or rucksack. Extra bags/ suitcases can be kept in our locked store for the duration of your time with us.
All safety equipment is provided onboard. Top quality Oilskins are available for hire from the school, for £7.50 per day. You will however need a pair of waterproof boots (clean Wellington boots are absolutely fine as an alternative to sea boots.) Most importantly, you will need a good sleeping bag/ pillow. The above list is intended as a guide. If you are a complete beginner, we suggest that you do not buy any expensive specialist clothing or equipment before your course.
Your instructor is very experienced and will be able to advise you about any kit you wish to purchase, that will best suit your intended type of sailing.
Winter Kit List
- Sleeping Bag – 4 seasons
- Pillow
- Hot water bottle (optional)
- Hard wearing cotton trousers, leggings or tracksuit trousers
- Warm Fleece/ pullovers
- Warm shirts/ polo necks
- Warm casual jacket
- Thermal Underwear
- Thermal socks
- Warm gloves/ mittens
- Deck/ sailing gloves
- Scarf
- Neck towel
- Woolly/ fleece hat
- Deck shoes or trainers
- Shore going kit
- Sea boots, wellies or a second pair of old trainers you don’t mind getting wet!

* please note that jeans are fine for shore going kit, however they are not suitable for sailing under foul weather gear. They absorb moisture and will feel damp!
